The intensive study of the English language research-practice center

History of formation

The intensive study of the English language research-practice center, a structural department of the S.Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University was established in March, 2007.

Purpose of the center is to expand the usage sphere of the Kazakh language, to provide good education service which will prompt competitiveness of  PSU in deep and intensive study of the state language by introducing the innovative technologies.

The effective activity of the center is carried out by the staff consisting 2 candidates of philological sciences, professors and educators of the university.

Two research workers in the field of pedagogic were awarded with the Y.Altynsarin Prize.

Teaching and educational appliances of the centre

All the necessary opportunities are provided for the efficient work of the centre. Classrooms are equipped including computer and multimedia language laboratories, the room of ethno linguistics, the state language and foreign languages support resource center. All the classrooms are provided with equipments, working programs and necessary furniture.

The center is rich in scientific and textbooks. The fund is gradually provided with up-to-dated textbooks, dictionaries, work programs created on the basis of the center. 

For 2008-2012 by employees of the Center are published and take roots into process of training more than 20 manuals, working programs, dictionaries with a profile orientation of training ("Professionally focused state language for specialities of economy, mechanical engineering, building, power, «Қазақ тілі» for workers of tax service, multimedia textbooks «Қазақ тілі» «Іс жүргізу», Russian-Kazakh dictionary "Metrology, standardization and Patent conducting" and others.

Innovation technologies in process of learning the state language

One of the directions of the Center`s activity – teaching Kazakh language and business correspondence in official language, joining to the Kazakh culture and developing of the students` patriotism.

The members of the Center work purposefully on inculcation of original technology of teaching official language which provided in the complex professional direction of teaching, lingua-region study “Тіл арқылы ел тану”  - “Познание народа через язык”, business correspondence of  concrete sphere. At the same time such methods as “absorbing to the natural language surroundings”, using of the materials from the activity of concrete organization, preliminary sociological  questionnaire for exposure of the students` level of knowledge of Kazakh language.

Creation of grants, programs focused on a trade studying language, has allowed to direct studying of the Kazakh language to a speciality channel, thereby having raised demand for its studying.

Teaching of  official language is holding with special programs, which are considered for level by level preparation, and also confirmed to Agency of the deeds of official service of Republic of Kazakhstan.

Study of foreign Languages

The Kazakh Language is a national language, the Russian Language is an international communication, the English language is a language of a successful integration in a global economics. Three problems are inseparably   connected with each other, that`s why. The Center in it`s activity pays attention to study foreign languages – English, Germany, Chinese etc.

Instruction is leaded according to special programs, which devote to different preparation for surrender foreign languages in TOEFL, IELTS, DAAD etc. In the study process they actively use multimedia an language laboratory, an oral speech laboratory, study text-books of word leading publishers.

Organizational-methodological and activity organizational – scientific.

On the basis of the Center

- traditional carrying out of "Days of Turkic writing" that includes scientifically-practical conference “20 centuries and Turkic writing" (2007), a round table "about problems of transition to a Latin" (2007), the International scientifically-practical conference "Turkic languages and 20 century" (2008), the Round table "Kazakhstan and the Turkic world" (2008), " The  Turkic languages" (2012). Collections of reports are published on conference materials (2007, 2008, 2012);

- Active work on the organization of scientifically-methodical seminars for state, Russian and foreign languages teachers of comprehensive schools of Pavlodar city on problems of innovative technologies of training;

- On purpose to familiarize with the Kazakh culture the University competition «Тіл шебері» on knowledge of a state language by teachers and students of university (on faculties) is carried out annually;

- Unemployed retrain are worked outin the direction of the SU "Department of Employment and social programs forPavlodar city" in occupations demandedin labor market: in the contest prepared by profession "official language translator-clerk ", "Office Assistant";

- annually scientific employees of the Center (together with "Ертіс дарыны") actively work as trainers of the Kazakh and Russian languages in summer schools. During summer holidays trainers prepare schoolchildren to scientific competitions.

Language training of enterprisers

The Centre takes active part in tenders and signs contracts with the enterprises on rendering the educational services in language preparation:  since 2007 on the basis of the Center 620 state employees have been trained.

The specific feature of teaching the state language to state employees - studying the Kazakh language along with the general course includes an obligatory profile orientation (the general course + profile Kazakh language). Three-level (initial, continuing level, office-work in a state language) training course of state employees is based on the programs and the manuals  worked out by the staff of the Center at the request of the enterprises of the area. In 2007 about 500 profession-oriented manuals were worked out; in 2009 the trilingual Kazakh-Russian-English dictionary of frequency words and expressions for the state employees, adapted for the Pavlodar area is ready for publishing.

The level of knowledge of a student is defined according to the results of the final test and oral examination. The listeners who have successfully ended the courses are granted certificates.

Summer linguistic camp named “Elim”: intensive learning of the state and foreign languages.

The purpose of Summer linguistic camp is learning of state and foreign languages through the traditions, culture, literature and history of the ethnos. The camp is located in Bayanaul at the bank of Sabyndykol lake. The members of the Center take an active part in the work of camp as the coach-teachers by Kazakh, Russian and English languages.

Program-minimum: 

• using the methods of teaching English language, which provide advanced technical terminology studying – at the beginning on 10 specialties of the university;
• publication of professionally orientated manuals on studying languages, on the problems of translations;
• systematic conduct of scientific-methodical seminars, theoretical and practical conferences, circular table.
  
  

The workers of the Center
