The main aim of students’ scientific-research work is an increasing of preparation and training quality of specialists with higher education capable put into practice creatively the achievements of scientific-technical and cultural progress and to develop the abilities to independent educational-cognitive activity.
The main task of students’ scientific-research work is to attract according to various levels to different creative activity forms taking into account their preparation.
Extra-curriculum students’ scientific-research work is organized in the form of:
- work in students’ scientific circles, students’ constructive bureau, scientific-research laboratories;
- students’ participation in groups or individually in fulfilling state-budget or self-contract subjects, in creative cooperation works and teachers’ individual plan carried at the departments;
- participation in exhibitions, conferences, symposiums.
Сompetitions, olympiads
Competitions announced by the Ministry of education and science of the RK are annually held at the university:
- Republican annual competition of students’ scientific-research works on natural, technical, socio-humanatarian and economical sciences. The main aims and tasks of the competition are: to stimulate scientific-research and educational-cognitive activity of the students, selection and support of more talented and gifted students, contribution to form intellectual potential of the RK. The students of higher educational institutions of the RK can take part in the competition. Students’ individual works on prioritive spheres of natural, technical, socio-humanatarian and economical sciences are presented at the competition.
- The competition on awarding annual nominal scholarship by the Corporative fund of education and science of the RK among the students of the higher educational institutions of the RK is conducted to develop and stimulate scientific-research and social activity of the students of Kazakhstani higher educational institutions. Full-time students of the second and fourth courses of Kazakhstani higher educational institutions with excellent marks, taking an active part in social life of the higher educational institutions, having published scientific works, diplomas and honour papers for participation in international and republican competitions can take part in the competition.
- The third-year students studying economical specialities with excellent and good marks and displaying abilities to scientific research work are allowed to participate in annual competition organized by National Bank.
- Inner University students’ competition of innovative-applied projects and works has acted since January, 2009. The aim of the competition is to attracte students to take an active part in scientific research work and innovative activity widely and to support more talented and gifted students.
- Annual competition Zhas Talap is held among the young scientists up to 35 years old and University students. The aim of the competition is to attract young scientists, post-graduate and master courses students and students widely to active scientific research work and inventive creation and to use achieved scientific results in studying process, industry (lectures, course and diploma projecting, in experiments and practice).
The title “Zhas Talap” is awarded for the best scientific works in the field of humanitarian, natural and technical sciences, discoveries and inventions which are of great theoretical and practical importance, significant with research actuality and promoting economic, social and cultural development of the Republic.
Olympiads
On Januarey 12-13, 2009 Republican Students’ Olympiad II on ecology will be held at Semei State Pedagogical Institute. The purpose of the Olympiad is to form students’ eco culture and create the condition for displaying their personal and creative potential.
On Januarey 23-24, 2009 Republican Students’ Olympiad on foreign languages will be held at the Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages.
Students’ constructive-research bureau
Students’ constructiveresearch bureau was created under the aegis of the Machine-building technology and equipment department at the faculty of Transport, Machinebuilding and metallurgy.
The main tasks of Students’ constructive research bureau are teaching methodology and means to solve constructive, scientific and technical problems independently.
Student's scientifically – research program «Zhas Galym»
Students scientific scholarships on programme Prometheus were established according to PSU Scientific Council desicion dated 26.11.2002 with the aim to develop students’ scientific research work. The financing of each year project is 100 000 tenge.Scientific project Advisers are the leading university scientists. Curriculum work plans and estimate are approved on each project. On the basis of PSU named after S Torajgyrov Academic council decision the decision about renaming student's scientifically–research program "Prometheus" on «Zhas ғалым» was accepted.
Student's center of science
Student's center of science operates at the PSU scientific - technological park. The center is a structural division of university and unites students conducting research work at university.
The purposes of Student's Centre of science consist in:
- Creation of conditions for disclosing and realization of students’ creative abilities, support of youth’s scientific and technical creativity;
- Involving of students in research activity on fundamental and applied directions as well as innovative activity;
- Popularization of scientific knowledge and achievements of science and technology among students;
- The newest information technologies application in student's scientific researches.
