"Chemistry and chemical technologies" department: About specialities and specializations
The department conducts training in specialities:
5B072000 – “Chemical technology of organic substances”;
5B072100 – “Chemical technology of inorganic substances”;
5B060600 – “Chemistry”.
Admittance is carried out according to the results of Unified National Testing (UNT) or the complex testing. Education is conducted under the state educational grants and contractual basis. There is a flexible system of discounts and privileges at the university.
Complex testing is conducted on 4 disciplines:
- Kazakh or Russian language;
- The History of Kazakhstan;
- Mathematics;
- Chemistry.
The course of study on the given specialities lasts: on the basis of General Secondary Education full time – 4 years, distant – 5 years; on the basis of Secondary Vocational Education full time – 3 years; distant – 3 years; on the basis of higher education distant – 2 years.
Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies provides training for Master’s degree in the fields of:

6N0721 - Chemical technology of organic substances
6N0606 - Chemistry
Specialities characteristics
Elaboration and constructing of new chemical technologies on production organic and inorganic substances, exploitation of technological lines at enterprises of inorganic synthesis and oil processing, providing labour protection measures and technical documentation management.
Our aim is to prepare a wide profile specialist for work at:
- enterprises of chemical, metallurgy, oil-chemical and pharmaceutical industry;
- laboratories of analytical, ecological, customs, sanitary-epidemiological and certificate services;
- scientific-research organizations (institutes, laboratories) of chemical, ecological, metallurgy and pharmaceutical profile as engineers, heads of departments and laboratories;
- teachers of chemistry at secondary schools, colleges, lyceums and in leading positions at the departments of education.
Qualification
After completing the full course of study on chemico-technological specialities the following degrees are awarded: the Bachelor of chemical technologies and the Bachelor of chemistry.
The Bachelor of chemistry can do the following types of professional activity:
- organization-technological;
- scientific-research;
- practical-management;
The graduates can continue their education at magistracy and postgraduate courses.
The programme of specialists’ preparation at the department of chemical technologies allows students to have practice at the largest industrial enterprises of our region.
The students of the speciality 5B072100 “Chemical technology of organic substances” have their practical training at technological shops of SC “Pavlodar oil-chemical factory”, SC “Kaustic” and SC “Casting”, the students of the speciality 5B072000 “Chemical technology of inorganic substances” have their practical training at technological shops of SC “Alluminium of Kazakhstan”, SC “Kaustic”, SC “Casting” and SC “Aksu ferroalloy factory”.
The students can get a great experience and practical skills of organizational and exploitational activity at these enterprises.
The graduates of speciality 5B060600 “Chemistry” have a great opportunity to work at most important branches of national economy, laboratories, scientific-research and educational institutions, as well as a chemist-expert at special enterprises.
