The Press Center of S. Toraigyrov PSU was established on February 24, 2003. It was named after Lyaziza Meshitbaykyzy Sergazina, our compatriot, the first professional Kazakh journalist, graduate of the Journalism Faculty at ComHIE, Knight of the Order of Red Star, life partner of a famous Kazakh poet Abu Sarsenbayev.
On September 20, 2011, the grand opening of the museum exhibition devoted to the work of L. Sergazina took place at S. Toraigyrov PSU. She was born in the Pavlodar region in the family of a prominent religious figure Meshitbay-Baba in 1908. In 1930, she entered the Almaty ComHEI. She studied at the Faculty of Journalism and was the first Kazakh woman to get a professional education in journalism. In 1933, she worked in the Stalin Zholy newspaper (now known as Zhetysu), in 1933-45, she worked in the Socialistic Kazakhstan (Yegemen Kazakhstan) newspaper. In 1950, she started working in the Kazakhstan Ayeldery newspaper where she worked until retirement. The major themes of her publications were the problems of women in the East, promoting the rights of women in the family and society, the problems of educating the younger generation.
In 2012, the Press Center was reorganized into the Media Center. The Media Center of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University (hereinafter referred to as the Media Center) is a structural unit, the main tasks of which include providing timely and comprehensive information about the news and life of the University and its research activity to the general public, as well as commenting important events and modern trends.
The structure of the Media Center includes laboratory of educational television, the Bylyk and SMS+ newspapers, as well as the PSU-FM radio station.
The purpose of the Media Center in the field of quality is coverage of the University activity in the region, country and abroad.
In order to maintain high reputation of the University, the Media Center carries out its activity in the following areas (OBJECTIVES):
1. Regular publication of information on the University activities at national and regional news portals: the website of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (http://www.edu.gov.kz), Kazinform Information Agency (http://www.inform.kz), Pavlodar Region Akim's Offiece (http://www.pavlodar.gov.kz), regional information portal Pavlodarnews.kz (http://pavlodarnews.kz).
2. Information support of the activities and events held by departments and faculties of the University, conducting live broadcasts with the participation of the Rector of S. Toraighyrov PSU, deans of the faculties, and members of the teaching staff in the Kazakh and Russian languages on regional and national TV channels, such as Kazakhstan Pavlodar, Irbis, KTK-7, STV, 24.kz, and Khabar.
3. Coverage of the events held at the University, as well as organization of radio programs and live broadcasts with the participation of the University administration, deans of the faculties, the teaching staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Kazakh and Russian languages on the regional radio and PSU-FM student radio.
4. The Educational Television Laboratory of the Media Center prepared videos for the regional television (KTK-7, Kazakhstan-Pavlodar, and Irbis TV channels), recorded lectures of PSU professors and news. The materials are submitted to the Education Informatization Center for broadcast on the University-TV regional channel (Tomsk).
5. In 2013, the Educational Television Laboratory of the Media Center won the main prize at the All-Russian Festival of Popular and Educational Films and Programs organized by University-TV (Tomsk) in the Best TV Editing nomination.
6. Organization of regular publication of the Bilik university newspaper (materials are published in the Kazakh and Russian languages).
7. Organization of monthly publication of the SMS+ university newspaper (materials are published in the Kazakh language).
8. Publication of articles on the achievements of the University, jubilees of outstanding scientists of the University, and the most important news of PSU in the national and regional press (Kazakhstanskaya Pravda, Yegemen Kazakhstan, Zvezda Priirtyshya, Obozreniye Nedeli, Versiya, Region.kz, Saryarka Samaly newspapers and Altyn Sapa, Delovoy Mir, and Sovremennoye Obrazovaniye magazines).
