History of the Department
The Department was founded in 1997 as a result of a merger of two departments (Mechanical Engineering Technology and Metal-Cutting Machines and Tools, both founded in 1962).
Ivan Shumeyko, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Professor, was in charge of the Department from 2002 to 2011. Since August 2011, the Department has been headed by Zhanar Yksan, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Associate Professor.
A major contribution to the development of the Department has been made by its former members: Temirtay Baymagambetov (Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Professor), Anatoliy Proskuryakov (Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Professor), Murat Aukenov (Senior Lecturer), Yuliya Malykhina (Senior Lecturer), etc.
Head of the Department
Zhanar Munsyzbaykyzy Yksan, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Associate Professor of S. Toraighyrov PSU, Head of the Department.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University (1996-2001).
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Equipment from S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University (2001-2002). The Master's thesis was devoted to the study of quality and standardization of engineering products.
Zhanar Yksan worked as an Assistant and Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Standardization (2002-2010).
In 2010, she defended her dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Engineering Sciences in 05.02.23 - Standardization and Quality Control of Products at L.N. Gumilyov ENU. The title of her dissertation is "Development of a Method for Quality Management of Heat-Strengthened Rolled Steel".

Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Standardization (2011 - till present).
Courses taught: Qualimetry; Designing and Manufacture of Workpieces; Quality Management Systems; Qualimetry in Mechanical Engineering; Organization and Planning of Research and Innovative Activities.
She is actively involved in training of academic staff. She supervised over 60 graduation and master's theses in Mechanical Engineering, Standardization, Metrology and Certification, and Metrology.
Professional experience: 12 years.
Publications: Zh. Yksan has over 35 publications, including 4 innovative patents of RK, the monograph entitled “Improving the Quality of Continuously Cast Billets and Heat-strengthened Rolled Steel”, research papers in scientific journals, and a Russian-Kazakh dictionary of terms used in the field of metrology, standardization and quality management
Field of research: problems of industrial products quality, technical regulation and metrology
The results of her research are widely-used in the educational process (programs in Mechanical Engineering and Standardization, Metrology and Certification).
